位于Larbert的新Forth Valley皇家医院造价3亿英镑,是苏格兰最大的NHS建设项目,拥有4000间病房以及16个手术室,当中安装了超过15000盏索恩荧光灯具。

该项目需要索恩照明的专业技术,其原因在于,和大多数室内环境不同的是,医疗环境要求设备能够满足严格的静洁要求以及特定的照明任务。例如,手术室采用了密封性非常强的灯具,走廊安装了配备可靠光学器件的嵌入式单管非对称灯具,而病房则使用了其他灯具。

灯具使用“通道型”电子可调节镇流器,如果感应器未探测到人员的走动,则照明水平将缓慢调低,达到节能的效果。一旦有人进入空间,照明水平立即恢复。照明控制的使用还提供夜间照明功能,减少辅助灯具的使用。

拥有密封IP54版本在内的节能型Cruz 205筒灯(32W TC-TEL-I)以及嵌入式荧光灯盘IndiQuattro为活动区、餐厅、厕所、演讲厅以及会议室提供主要光源。该类项目的灯具更换需要大量人力物力,减少灯具类型和功率的方式能够减少安装的复杂程度,为今后的更换提供便利。

鉴于该项目的专业性质,Thorn索恩照明的销售和开发人员与Laing O'Rourke(设计和建造)财团密切合作,将Crown House Technologies和DSSR分别作为电气制造商和顾问工程师。Thorn索恩照明提供的技术支持包括3D设计显示、样品以及“应急”解决方案,涵盖“即插即用”线缆和“即时上锁”托臂等,确保射灯安装准确无误。

该项目由Forth Health(John Laing和澳大利亚英联邦银行的合资公司)及其合作伙伴Laing O'Rourke(设计和建造)和Serco(硬件和软件FM)获得,隶属于政府PPP计划。
